First Appointment

I had my first antenatal appointment yesterday. It didn't go that well. I had Kalyani with me and the time was just too long for her. Just picture trying to hear the baby's heartbeat over all her crying. Very difficult! Next time I might not bring her along. But it was pretty cool to hear the existence of this baby. It makes it a lot more real. I find it amazing that there is going to be another little person join our family with certain familiarities that make them part of our us yet an individual at the same time.

Oh last night I went along to my first Tupperware party in over 10 years. Apparently I was told the products have changed somewhat in that time. Well definitely the colours have. I got to catch up with some of the Mums from my Mums' group which was very nice. We don't see each other very often nowdays. And congratulations to Mel and Phil who are also expecting their second due in June.

Gotta to finish this off Kalyani and I are going to be cooking crepes for breakfast and she's urging me to COME!!

Australia Day

We had a really busy but enjoyable long weekend catching up with friends and family, playing cricket and eating. Kalyani got so tired out over the weekend with no day sleeps and heaps of activity that it took her until 4am Monday night- yep that's right 4AM to get to sleep. Mum was very tired the next day too!

Here are a few photos taken on Australia Day. Kalyani and friends showing off their Aussie tattoos. Then water play at home with her cousins. Kalyani being the youngest and one of the bossiest had control of the hose for filling up of containers for a water fight.

Down South

We did a quick but busy trip down to Harvey and Eaton this past weekend to catch up with immediate family and our dear friend Miriam. Here are a few photos we took...

Kalyani and Nanna- how hard to get the toy to stay out of the mouth for a photo. Didn't succeed!

Wow a dog that actually doesn't mind young kids patting him. Kalyani thought that was great fun! Below- the ice cream face.
Hogging the layabout from everyone else including Mum and Dad and having a brief rest. Kalyani was on the go the whole time and didn't sleep as well as she does at home. Infact below is proof of how industrious a two year old can be in the 5 minutes between being checked on when she is meant to be going to sleep.

The End of Holidays

And back to work! Well I had one day back and that was enough. So tired! Also it has been so hot here ever since Christmas day which was lovely and pleasant. Bring on some Melbourne weather!

Here are some photos from this past week. Kalyani trying out the bubble machine she got for Christmas.

Mum's feet have shrunk? Kalyani trying out my new crocs.

Concentrating on making sure that bowl is completely clean. For not being a baking person, it seems like I have been cooking a lot of cakes lately. Mainly because this girl loves helping. Well now it hasn't gotten to the point that its more like Mum helping her. She does all the adding of ingredients (which Mum has measured) and stirring and of course, licking the spoons and bowl. I hope this interest in cooking she has at the moment just continues to grow.

Speaking of food- this is what I cooked for one of our meals this week. Lovely bream! Didn't realise when I bought it that I would have to scale and gut it. Whenever we went fishing growing up I use to get my brothers or my Dad to do that job. Somehow managed it though! This is all because I want to be more intentional this year to buy and cook our meals with local produce. I am also hoping to cook vegetarian meals more regularly. Shared that one with my poor meat-loving husband who wasn't overjoyed. See how that goes...

We are having another one of these...

I am 12 and a half weeks pregnant and hopefully mostly through the awful morning sickness/ all day nausea phase. So if anyone noticed that I hadn't been posting as often the last few months that is the reason why. I hadn't been feeling well enough to do much of anything. But I am starting to feel a bit more normal this week especially after a weeks break.

Holidays are almost over but I am really thankful to have a few extra days this week at home with Hit back at work and Kalyani in daycare. Yesterday I spent doing all the things that are easier without a toddler, namely shopping and housework. Today I have been able to relax- watch a movie, have a long bath, not do much at all- very nice! Thank you God for days like today.

Bring out the artist...

Finally bought Kalyani her own paints this week after all the requests I get to "paint, paint!" and my reluctance to keep sharing the paints from my stash. This was her first use of them and she had a ball. Dad was very impressed with her creativity. The second time we didn't supervise as careful and she ended up painting her entire arm and tummy with paint on the chair, floor etc before we stepped in.

Holiday Scrapping!

Here are some layouts I finished this week while I have been on holidays. The foam stickers on the Family Tradition Layout were grabbed from Kalyani's container of foam stickers she got for Christmas. Got to put them to good use! Inspiration was from the layouts in the latest Scrapbooking Creations magazine.
