Back in the Pool

We got to go swimming this past weekend for the first time this summer. How lovely to get cool on some really hot days! We also got to catch up with extened family which is great too. Here Kalyani is having a cuddle with my cousins' daughter Holly.

Nanna and Shaan
My Aunty Anne and her granddaughter Holly- 16 months old.

Nanna and Pa with the grandsons Shaan and Zek. Love Zek's expression. He doesn't seem too impressed with having his photo taken.

Hatching Update: 3 live black chicks, 3 dead chicks, 2 eggs that didn't hatch and 4 eggs that I have no idea what happened to. I was abit disappointed with how few chicks I got from a dozen eggs and there's a few things I would do differently next time. Separate the broody hens from each other and from the laying hens who were laying in the same spot. Hence I also had 9 extra eggs I buried because I wasn't sure if they would be safe to eat. But the three little ones are very cute and here's hoping they don't out to be all roosters. :)

After the disappointment of finding two dead chicks on Wed I spotted these two yesterday. Just love how they are staying close to mother hen. Still need to move the hens properly and do a count and remove any unhatched eggs.

Getting into the Rhythm!

Now that could refer to the dancing my darling daughter has been doing lately. Hmm difficult to count the number of dresses we went through this morning in getting her dressed because they wouldn't let her twirl properly in them. But I was actually thinking more about how this week has gone. After packing, going on holidays and all the chaos of unpacking after we got back I finally feel like we have had a better rhythm this week. The housework and washing and cooking has gotten done without it feeling like its consuming all my time. I have had the energy and time to play with Kalyani and cuddle Shaan. Though saying that I usually conk out by the afternoon and have very little energy left for playing.

Mainly because Shaan is still waking up several times a night for a feed and then waking up in the morning by 6am. So now that I've tried most things (routine, self settling, no dummy, more bedding etc) I am going to try weaning him off the 4am feed. Hopefully before we go on holidays too! Two weeks until we head down South over the Christmas break. Looking forward to it! Oh yeh better start thinking about packing- again!

Love a chubby baby!
Off to find some adventure!

Some of the first cucumbers I have harvested from our vegie garden. At the moment I have had to give up on finish removing all the grass that is coming through and re-planting because my back decided the weeding didn't agree with it. So I'm back to the physio! That's been a challenge the last couple of weeks- having the motivation to get back into my exercises and modifying my activities again! Probably carrying around an 8kg baby doesn't help either. Yeh for healthy babies!

It's good to be home!

This boy is growing so much. Finally caught up on all his 4 month immunisation and checks even though he's almost 5 months old now. He's rolling over and over and can move to where he wants to be now. He's also putting everything he can reach in his mouth.

Kalyani unwrapping some of the stainless steel items I brought back from India with me. So exciting to have new kitchen stuff and be able to get rid of some on my plastic stuff. Wish I had got more actually.

One of the best things about being home is catching up with friends and family. Shaan got to play with his cousin Zek. Well more like they rolled into each other, sucked on each other's arms etc.

I came back to a very overgrown vegie garden. I've now staked the cucumbers (the plants in front), removed a lot of the grass coming through (so much for no-dig!) and planted some capisicum seedlings. Skipped the seeds this time as the ones I was growing from seed have all died.

Wednesday Kalyani had to go to the doctors- twice! Yep she cut the back of her head open on some bathroom tiles while at a friend's house and the re-opened it when she got home. The bandage was our request because we wanted to make sure it didn't come open again.

Oh and back to routine tasks like washing clothes and folding. Found this little fella on one of the socks this morning. Oh its good to be home!

India Trip Part 2

Each afternoon we would head over to the park next to the apartment building Hit's Mum lives in. After being indoors all day Kalyani was to free to run amuck with her cousin, Aditi (who's 7 years old).

Nothing better than a sleeping baby!

In the second week Shaan started rolling from his back to his tummy and now all he wants to do is move.
The challenge of getting a "sensible" photo of everyone. See Aditi knows how to pose correctly Kalyani!
Oh no not another silly pic! Shaan having a cuddle with his Dadi on the last day.
